How to write Lyrics

So, I was recently asked the most basic question ever.

"Where do you get your lyrics??"

My brain.
I write them.
Hello!

I don't take any offense, if you thought I did, because I know that I am not usually that creative. :3 So, here's a few pointers to writing lyrics! (with no pictures)

1) Clear away all distractions. I usually just  have a tab open with Google Docs, youtube  with the original song, and maybe two other  tabs with other English Lyrics if I feel like  I need a reference. I also make sure that my  internet is good so that I can play the song  multiple times, and open up Dictionary.com in  case I need it.

2) "An apple a day keeps the Doctor away, but  if the doctor is cute, then screw the fruit!"  Yeah, stay away from rhymes. I only reccomend  this direction if you are at a lost for  rhythm, and it'll move the song along.  Otherwise, if you're like me, you'll just get  tongue-tied.

3) If you ARE going to use rhymes, however, I  recomend rhymezone.com! A very helpful site  where you just put in a word, ask for  whatever, and the results are endless!

4) If you get too stressed out, then, like  with any project, save your work if you  haven't already, step back, and come back to  it later. Writing lyrics can be stressful,  believe it or not.

5) If you feel like using someone else's        lyrics, because of any reason, just remember    to do the following:

  • Credit them by name on the site that you got their lyrics from.
  • Post a link in the description of your song/video to their YT, Tumblr, Blogspot, etc (wherever they posted the lyrics)
  • If they say anything like "Please do not use these lyrics" DONOT*******USETHEM!!!!
  • If they ask that you use their lyrics ONLY with their permission, then please wait before using them, and ask. Get a reply, then do it. IFTHEYSAYYES!
  • If you don't see anything about using their lyrics, I would ask them. If they don't reply (I'd probably give the people who get swarmed by others a month, and those who don't a few weeks, though it depends).
  • Be prepared for people to say no. If you've already learned their lyrics, either go find another set of lyrics, or write your own!
I'm happy to answer any other specific questions about Lyrics, Singing, Mixing, Subbing, and the like! Just please make them specific!
